ROMGAZ Provided Financial Support for a Project of "Dr. Gh. Preda" Association of the Psychiatric Hospital, Sibiu

ROMGAZ provided financial support for the project “Use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy in the Psychiatric Disorder Biomarker Research” of the "Dr. Gh. Preda" Association of the Psychiatric Hospital, Sibiu.

The project aimed at procuring a Near Infrared Spectroscopy apparatus for the investigation of patients suffering from mental disorders. Such apparatus is essential in gaining a better understanding of the activity of the human brain affected from various mental disorders and identifying potential biomarkers in the field of psychiatry, that may serve as a guideline for the approach of treatment or therapeutic prognosis.

“Dr. Gheorghe Preda" Association of the Psychiatry Hospital of Sibiu was established in 2010, comprising physicians, psychologists, social workers, economists, and legal advisors. Volunteers, students of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences - Department of Psychology, and Department of Sociology, Human Resources and Social Assistance, as well as of the Faculty of Medicine are acting within the Association. The Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and the Faculty of Medicine are comprised within the University of “Lucian Blaga” of Sibiu.

The mission of the Association is to enhance the quality of life of patients suffering from mental disorders, and the healthcare provided to such patients, by endowing the “Dr. Gheorghe Preda" Psychiatry Hospital of Sibiu with equipment and medical apparatus, and modernization of the hospital structures, professional training of employees, promoting mental health, organization of occupational therapy activities, development of personal  and social skills of patients, as well as organization of educational and recreational activities, with the support of volunteers.
