Romanian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Bucharest

In 2023, ROMGAZ financially supported the project "World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, juniors - part of the International Gymnastics Federation's competition calendar for 2023, one of the most important events of this international body".  The project aimed at supporting the Romanian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation in the preparation for the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships - juniors, one of the most important events of this international body.

The Romanian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (FRGR) is the managing body of rhythmic gymnastics in Romania, member of the Romanian Olympic Committee, of the International Gymnastics Federation and of the European Gymnastics Union. According to the National Institute of Statistics, in 2019, 464 athletes, 34 coaches, 5 instructors and 23 referees were registered with FRGR. The history of rhythmic gymnastics in Romania began in 1961, and it has been steadily developing until today, as follows:
•    1961 — start of official competitions organised by the Romanian Gymnastics Federation; 
•    1963 — Budapest — the first world championship participation for Romania;
•    1984 — Los Angeles, Olympic Games — best results for our gymnasts – silver for Doina Stăiculescu;
•    1990 — Irina Deleanu gets the first medal at the European championship at Goteborg;
•    1991 — Irina Deleanu gets the first medals at the Olympic Youth Games at Bruxelles,;
•    1992 — Irina Deleanu gets the first medal at the World Championship at Bruxelles (bronze medal);
•    1993 — one of the most important years for the Romanian rhythmic gymnastics, as Romania hosted the European Championship at Bucharest. Romania gets the first medal in the overall event.
