Minister of Energy Visits the Drilling Site of Well 54 Damianca, CARAGELE

Today the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, visited the drilling site of well 54 Damianca accompanied by SNGN ROMGAZ SA executives Răzvan Popescu – Chief Executive Officer, Aristotel Jude – Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Dumitru Chisăliţă- Board of Directors Chairman.

The commitment to discover new hydrocarbon volumes is a priority for Romgaz and drilling 54 Damianca well in the deep zone of Caragele field is part of achieving that objective.

Damianca well with 5100 m designed depth is part of well’s exploration portfolio aimed at identifying new hydrocarbon reservoirs, assessing the production potential and geological configuration in areas with depths over 4000 m. Drilling works on the well began in early June, 2025 and are progressing according to schedule.
In addition to 54 Damianca well site, the Minister of Energy and Romgaz team also visited 55 Damianca well, which is currently in operation.

Caragele field is located in Buzau and Braila counties, in RG06 Muntenia Nord-Est block where SNGN Romgaz SA performs petroleum operations, as sole title holder, based on the Exploration-Development-Production Concession Agreement, approved by Government Decision no. 23/2000.

Caragele field is in production and has a significant contribution to Romgaz cumulative gas production. The field is under continuous development as the drilled wells prove their commercial viability. To assess the discovered accumulations and highlight new ones, SNGN ROMGAZ SA intends to drill 10 deep exploration wells unconditionally and other 3 drills conditional on their results.

As part of its development strategy, ROMGAZ has a solid portfolio of exploration projects outlining current and future upstream onshore investments, leverages the commercial opportunities and, at the same time, aligns with energy transition objectives in an accountable and sustainable manner.
